Spreading God's Word

I arrived in St. Lucia on Friday afternoon and spoke to the Youth Group on Friday night. When I first started speaking they thought I was just another snobby rich American girl. Their arms were crossed and they were glaring at me. As I spoke about my past, they realized I understood rejection and pain. Their body language relaxed and they were a little more open. Sunday I gave my "story" (testimony) to the church in Vieux Fort. A lot of the women came up and thanked me for being so transparent.

Below you'll see many pictures of Jeannie & I teaching during the two VBS'. The 10/40 window refers to a section of the world with the most people, poverty and rejection of God. THUMB describes the majority of people's beliefs in the 10/40 window. T = tribal, H = Hindu, U = unreligious (turn it sideways and that is a C, which stands for Chinese), M = Muslim & B = Budist. Jeannie called one child up for each of the beliefs and dressed them in cultural clothing.

Everyday I got to teach the Bible lesson. At the first VBS the kids were so crazy, but during the Bible lesson they would listen really closely. We had over 100 kids at the first VBS and the second averaged around 25. The second group was quieter and more respectful, but the kids at the second VBS were not as responsive to the Bible lesson as the first group was. It was an interesting dynamic. As hectic as that first group was, they were my favorite to work with because they were so responsive to God's Word.
