People of My Heart

I'm Home! I thought that coming home would be a sweet relief. St. Lucia is filled with tiny little biting creatures and they found me good and tasty! The heat caused an exhaustion I've never known. We were up by 7:30 every morning and went to bed anywhere between 11pm to 1am every night. With all of that said, I have found that leaving St. Lucia is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I am so glad to be back with my family and am very excited to see my church family, but it is a very bittersweet feeling. A big piece of my heart is now and forever will be in St. Lucia.

The slideshow below is of the adorable St. Lucian children. They are the reason that I went. When I first saw the kids I couldn't believe how terrible their behavior was. As the week went on the rough exterior of most of the children began to fade away and they began to show us their vulnerability. By Friday I had swarms of kids sitting all over me and pulling me in every direction possible. The Lord allowed me to lead three girls to Christ: Targe, Neila & Shani. Please pray that these girls will get to go to a Bible believing church and grow in Christ. The saddest thing that I heard the whole week was that most all of the children thought that Jesus was still hanging on the cross. After I explained that Jesus came off the cross and is alive again, right now, the children's faces lit up with excitement. I told the children they should never just believe what people tell them about God. They need to check it out in the Bible for themselves. I pray that is something they will keep with them forever.

God has blessed me in so many ways. Being able to watch Jeannie, teach the children, has taught me so many new techniques. She is a truly gifted children's teacher! Enjoy the slide show from the two VBS' we ran. You can tell by many of the children's eyes that they have lived lives filled with hate and rejection. You can see in their smiles that they loved the attention we were able to give them.
